Finally! A Pie!

Apple pie!
I love a good piece of pie. Some of my favorites are coconut cream, sour cream raisin, apple and pumpkin. However, for the past few years I have been petrified of making pies. Making the filling isn't an issue, but I have a this phobia of failing with pie crusts. My past attempts have resulted in crusts that were too dry, too hard, too crispy around the edges, sunk in the oven, etc... (Yes, I've even tried the "Never Fail Pie Crust" recipe). Maybe it's the fact that I've experienced the epitome of crust perfection by enjoying the pies that bakers in our family can make. Their crusts always have the appropriate balance of flavor and flakiness. Well, last week, I decided to face my fears and attempt yet another crust recipe. I went for a Betty Crocker crust recipe with buttermilk in it...and, I have to say, it turned out well. So I have to post a picture for those of you who have given me encouragement and tips over the years. I've made one successful pie! If there's anyone out there who has a pie/pie crust recipe they recommend, please post it!

Your pie looks really good. I also have trouble making a flaky, tender crust - even when I use white flour!
