Wedding Crasher
I've reached that stage with Daniel where it's completely frustrating to be out in public with him, especially in the evenings. For example, at a recent wedding, we barely were at the part where the father gives away the bride, and Daniel was already ballistic. Of course, the nursery had been turned into a bridal zone, so I spent the rest of the ceremony chasing him up and down hallways in high-heels. After the wedding he sauntered into the kitchen, loudly chanting, "Num, num, num..." (his famous phrase when he demands a snack). He got distracted for a while by a wheeled cart, but otherwise, he was a complete terror! For now, I am surrendering to the phase that my child is in. I'll live vicariously through the experiences and details of my friends who are are able to have social lives, go out to eat, attend events, and shop.

Sorry that you couldn't enjoy the wedding....but at least you got a really cute family picture out of the deal! Have a Happy Thnaksgiving!
I know what you mean Mara! Taking Leah out to any wedding anymore is a public disaster unless Josh and I both go. Easier to tackel with 2 adults! At her first wedding this summer, Leah fell off the pews in the church while eating cheerios, and screamed so loud I had to take her out right away! Thankfully it was during a song, but we were right next to the guy taping video! O-well.. I'm sure when the kids are older it will be a lot easier to go to more weddings! Hang in there!
Mara,
Having a wedding crasher of my own, I feel your pain! As hard as it can be sometimes to have to stay home from events, it's not worth the stress sometimes. A friend's wedding, the church dessert social and the fancy church Thanksgiving meal we attended last month were examples of that! Two kids up late and crying and throwing food all over just isn't fun! No matter what some child-training experts say, children can't be perfectly controlled or trained to behave according to protocol at events like this at the age of 1 and 2 so sometimes avoiding stress means staying home!
