One of the places in the area that I had previously never visited was Animal Land. I probably have driven past it hundreds of times, but never expected that it was worth stopping at. With Matt's side of the family coming over for the 4th, we all decided to do something that the kids might enjoy. So we caravaned our way to Animal Land. Several other families had the same idea, with some were even picnicking inside the park.
There was quite the variety of animals there, spanning from gerbils to Siberian tigers. You are able to purchase food to feed quite a few of the animals too. Many of the animals are caged in, but there is an entirely open are with different types of deer, goats, emus, and llamas running around. The most fascinating part of the whole visit though was when someone brought in their small, fluffy dog. The cougars, lions, and leopards which had been lazily snoozing went into hysteria, pouncing at the cages.
Enjoying the shade by the trout pond.
It's not a good idea to run out of treats at Animal Land.
