"For it is by grace you have been saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
not as a result of works, that no one should boast."
Ephesians 2:8-9
Karen and I recently completed a Bible study entitled Becoming a Woman of Grace by Cynthia Heald. The study took us through the topics of understanding the Old and New Covenants, salvation, legalism, loving and serving others, and growing in grace. Grace is the foundation of our faith; the beginning and end of our life as a follower of Christ. As the author stated, "It ushers us into our life with God and it will see us through to eternity." Paul said in Acts 20:24, "However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me-- the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace."
So what does grace look like lived out in our lives?
In simple terms:
1) Because I am loved; I can love others.
2) Because I am forgiven, I can forgive.
3) Because God speaks graciously to me. I can communicate with grace.
4) Because my strength and peace are from God, I can be a gentle, quiet spirit to others.
5) Because I am humbled by being called God's child, I can selflessly delight in bringing glory to Him alone.

I appreciated the author's closing prayer particularly. It is going to be one that I return to ponder/meditate on frequently.
" Lord, You alone give abundant life. Deliver me from myself.
Help me to see how destructive pride is,
and how easily I revert to living under the law.
Make me aware of how needful, dependent, and imperfect I am.
May I continually be in awe of the abounding grace I receive from You.
Enable me, Lord, to share Your grace with others.
Thank You for never giving up on me.
Thank You for Your grace that perfects, confirms,
strengthens, and establishes me.
May I become a woman of grace who is known for her giving spirit
and for her love for You.
May I become a gracious woman who attains honor for Your kingdom.
I love you, Lord. Amen."
